Trazocan (trazodone) 100 mg
Trazocan 100 mg is identified as a branded oral tablet containing trazodone. Trazodone is an antidepressant medicine used for the treatment of depressive disorders. In many patients it may also be associated with improvement in sleep symptoms, but use for insomnia alone is not an established primary indication in all settings.

How It Works
Trazodone acts on serotonin pathways in the brain. It combines serotonin reuptake inhibition with serotonin receptor antagonism, which is believed to contribute to its antidepressant effects and to some of its sedating properties.
Important Safety Information
Trazodone is contraindicated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors, including linezolid and intravenous methylene blue, because of the risk of serotonin syndrome. Important precautions include the risk of suicidality in children, adolescents and young adults, serotonin syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias and QT prolongation, orthostatic hypotension and syncope, bleeding risk, priapism, mania or hypomania, hyponatremia, and cognitive or motor impairment.
Clinically significant interactions include other serotonergic medicines, antiplatelet agents and anticoagulants, strong CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers, digoxin, phenytoin, and alcohol or other CNS depressants.
Possible Side Effects
Common adverse effects reported in prescribing information include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, fatigue, constipation, blurred vision, nausea, and light-headedness. More serious reactions can include severe hypotension, abnormal heart rhythm, serotonin syndrome, priapism, and marked mood changes.
Scientific Evidence
Peer-reviewed reviews and meta-analyses suggest trazodone may improve some sleep outcomes, especially sleep maintenance and perceived sleep quality, in some patients with insomnia symptoms. However, the evidence base is mixed, and objective sleep benefits are not consistently demonstrated across studies.
