Healtroxin (Levothyroxine) 100 mcg
Healtroxin 100 mcg is a levothyroxine tablet. Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), a thyroid hormone used as replacement therapy when the body does not make enough thyroid hormone. It is also used in selected thyroid-related conditions under specialist supervision.

Established Medical Uses
Levothyroxine is established for treatment of hypothyroidism, including primary hypothyroidism, and for thyroid hormone replacement after thyroid surgery or radioiodine treatment when replacement is needed. Official prescribing information also includes use as an adjunct to surgery and radioiodine therapy in certain thyroid cancer settings. It is not indicated for weight loss.
How It Works
Levothyroxine replaces missing thyroid hormone and is converted in the body to the more active hormone triiodothyronine (T3). By restoring thyroid hormone activity, it helps normalise thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and supports metabolism, energy regulation, heart function, and other hormone-dependent processes.
Important Safety Information
Levothyroxine is contraindicated in uncorrected adrenal insufficiency. Official labels also warn that excess thyroid hormone can worsen or trigger heart rhythm problems, worsen angina or other cardiovascular disease, and reduce bone mineral density, especially with over-replacement. It may worsen glycaemic control in people with diabetes and can interact with medicines that alter absorption, thyroid hormone metabolism, anticoagulant effect, and other drug responses.
Possible Side Effects
Adverse effects are usually those of excess thyroid hormone. Reported effects include palpitations, fast or irregular heartbeat, nervousness, irritability, tremor, insomnia, headache, sweating, heat intolerance, weight loss, increased appetite, diarrhoea, muscle weakness, and menstrual irregularities. Serious reactions can include arrhythmias, myocardial infarction in susceptible patients, and bone loss with prolonged over-replacement.
Scientific Evidence
Peer-reviewed reviews and guidelines identify levothyroxine monotherapy as the standard first-line treatment for hypothyroidism. Clinical evidence supports improvement in biochemical thyroid markers and symptoms in appropriately selected patients, while also showing that some patients may continue to report symptoms despite normal TSH.
