Tadarise (Tadalafil) 20 mg
Tadarise 20 mg is a tadalafil tablet product. Tadalafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used for erectile dysfunction and, in some tadalafil products, other urologic indications. The 20 mg strength identifies the active ingredient and dose form, not a unique medicine class.
Active Ingredient and Medicine Class
The verified active ingredient is tadalafil, a selective PDE5 inhibitor. This class acts on the nitric oxide–cyclic guanosine monophosphate pathway and promotes smooth-muscle relaxation in erectile tissue.
Established Medical Uses
Official prescribing information for tadalafil tablets identifies erectile dysfunction as an established indication. Some tadalafil formulations are also approved for benign prostatic hyperplasia, but the product name here supports identification of tadalafil 20 mg and not a specific branded regulatory presentation beyond that active ingredient.
How It Works
Tadalafil inhibits PDE5, an enzyme that breaks down cyclic GMP. By reducing cyclic GMP breakdown, it helps preserve the smooth-muscle relaxation needed for an erection in response to sexual stimulation. Human review literature describes tadalafil as a long-acting PDE5 inhibitor, with effects reported for up to about 36 hours after dosing in clinical studies.
Important Safety Information
Tadalafil must not be used with nitrates, because the combination can cause a marked drop in blood pressure. It is also contraindicated with guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat and in patients with hypersensitivity to tadalafil. Prescribing information warns that use with alpha-blockers, antihypertensives, or substantial alcohol intake may increase the risk of hypotension. Tadalafil is metabolised mainly by CYP3A4, so strong CYP3A4 inhibitors can increase exposure, while CYP3A4 inducers can reduce it. It should also be avoided when sexual activity is medically inadvisable because of cardiovascular status.
Precautions include risk of prolonged erection or priapism, sudden vision loss, sudden hearing loss, and greater caution in renal or hepatic impairment. Use is not recommended in patients with retinitis pigmentosa in the reviewed prescribing information.
Possible Side Effects
Common adverse reactions reported with tadalafil include headache, dyspepsia, back pain, myalgia, nasal congestion, flushing, pain in extremity, dizziness, and diarrhoea. Less common but serious reactions can include priapism, significant hypotension, and rare vision or hearing problems.
Scientific Evidence
PubMed-indexed reviews conclude that tadalafil is an effective PDE5 inhibitor for erectile dysfunction and is generally well tolerated in clinical use. The evidence base also supports its longer duration of action compared with some other agents in the class, with adverse effects dominated by headache, dyspepsia, back pain, myalgia, and nasal congestion.
