Description
Neuro-seliron (Pregabalin) 300 mg
Neuro-seliron 300 mg is a pregabalin capsule. Pregabalin is a prescription medicine used for certain nerve-related pain conditions and as add-on treatment for some seizure disorders. It is also authorised in some regions for generalised anxiety disorder, depending on the product and country.
Active Ingredient and Medicine Class
The verified active ingredient is pregabalin. It belongs to the gabapentinoid class and is also described as an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic medicine.
Established Medical Uses
Regulatory sources describe pregabalin for peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also used as adjunctive therapy for partial seizures in adults; some regulatory approvals also include generalised anxiety disorder in adults. Specific authorised uses vary by country and product.
How It Works
Pregabalin does not work like a simple painkiller. It binds to the alpha2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels, which is thought to reduce release of neurotransmitters involved in pain signalling and seizure activity. The exact clinical mechanism is not fully understood, but this effect is the leading explanation for its benefit.
Important Safety Information
Pregabalin should not be used in people with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or any component of the product. Important warnings include angioedema, hypersensitivity reactions, suicidal behaviour and ideation, respiratory depression, peripheral oedema, and weight gain. Caution is needed with central nervous system depressants and in people with underlying respiratory impairment. Thiazolidinedione antidiabetic medicines may increase the concern for oedema.
Possible Side Effects
The most commonly reported side effects include dizziness, somnolence, dry mouth, blurred vision, peripheral oedema, weight gain, and difficulty concentrating or thinking clearly. Less common but clinically important reactions include allergic reactions, swelling of the face or throat, and breathing problems.
Scientific Evidence
Clinical trials and reviews show that pregabalin can reduce neuropathic pain and lower seizure frequency in indicated patients, with benefits demonstrated against placebo in controlled studies. Reviews also consistently report dizziness and somnolence as the main limiting adverse effects, with oedema and weight gain also occurring in a meaningful proportion of patients.
