Description
Siezta (Sildenafil) 100 mg dt
Siezta 100 mg dt is a sildenafil product. Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used for erectile dysfunction. The “dt” form indicates an orally disintegrating tablet formulation.
Active Ingredient and Medicine Class
Active ingredient: sildenafil.
Medicine class: phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor.
Sildenafil enhances the nitric oxide–cGMP pathway in penile tissue, supporting relaxation of smooth muscle and increased blood flow during sexual stimulation.
Established Medical Uses
Sildenafil is established for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Regulatory prescribing information identifies erectile dysfunction as the approved use for sildenafil tablets. Clinical reviews and trials have shown improvement in erectile function across a range of causes, including organic, psychogenic, and mixed erectile dysfunction.
How It Works
Sildenafil blocks PDE5, an enzyme that breaks down cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). By reducing cGMP breakdown, it helps preserve the smooth-muscle relaxation needed for penile erection in response to sexual stimulation. Its effect is not an automatic erection trigger; it works by amplifying the normal erectile response.
Important Safety Information
Sildenafil must not be used with nitrates because the combination can cause a marked fall in blood pressure. Prescribing information also warns against use in people with hypersensitivity to sildenafil or any tablet component.
Important precautions include the risk of symptomatic hypotension with alpha-blockers and additive blood-pressure lowering with other antihypertensive medicines. Caution is also advised in people with significant cardiovascular disease, and in those with hepatic or renal impairment. Sildenafil is not for use together with other erectile dysfunction treatments unless specifically assessed by a clinician.
Possible Side Effects
Common adverse effects include headache, flushing, dyspepsia, nasal congestion, dizziness, and visual disturbances. Clinical evidence also shows an increased risk of overall adverse events compared with placebo.
Less common but important serious reactions may include priapism, sudden vision loss from rare ocular events, and severe hypotension, especially with interacting medicines.
Scientific Evidence
Randomised trials and systematic reviews show that sildenafil improves erectile function and is generally well tolerated. A meta-analysis of harms found higher rates of headache, flushing, dyspepsia, and visual disturbance versus placebo, without a clear increase in serious adverse events in short-term trials.
