How It Works

Important Safety Information
Tadalafil must not be used with nitrates because the combination can cause a marked fall in blood pressure. It is also contraindicated in men for whom sexual activity is inadvisable because of cardiovascular disease. Important additional contraindications and precautions include recent heart attack or stroke, unstable angina, uncontrolled arrhythmias, significant hypotension or uncontrolled hypertension, and prior vision loss from non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy. Clinically significant interactions may occur with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, CYP3A4 inducers, alpha-blockers, antihypertensives, and riociguat; combining tadalafil with other erectile dysfunction treatments is generally not recommended.
Possible Side Effects
Common adverse effects reported with tadalafil include headache, dyspepsia, back pain, muscle pain, facial flushing, nasal congestion, and dizziness. Less common but serious reactions can include priapism, sudden hearing or vision changes, severe hypersensitivity reactions, and symptomatic low blood pressure.

Clinical reviews and trial analyses indexed in PubMed show that tadalafil improves erectile dysfunction outcomes across a range of severities and underlying causes. Evidence also supports that its effect window is longer than some other PDE5 inhibitors, which may provide greater flexibility in timing.
