Description
Vigore red (Sildenafil) 100 mg
Vigore red 100 mg is a sildenafil-containing tablet. Sildenafil is a prescription medicine used for erectile dysfunction in adult men. It belongs to the phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor class.
Active Ingredient and Medicine Class
The verified active ingredient is sildenafil, usually as sildenafil citrate. Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor. This class works by affecting the nitric oxide/cyclic GMP pathway involved in penile blood flow.
Established Medical Uses
Official prescribing information identifies sildenafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Clinical studies and reviews show that sildenafil can improve erectile response and successful intercourse compared with placebo in men with erectile dysfunction.
How It Works
Sildenafil enhances the effect of nitric oxide by inhibiting PDE5, the enzyme that breaks down cyclic GMP in the corpus cavernosum. This helps relax smooth muscle and increase blood inflow during sexual stimulation. It does not produce an erectile response without sexual stimulation.
Important Safety Information
Sildenafil is contraindicated with nitrates and should not be used with riociguat or other guanylate cyclase stimulators because of the risk of marked hypotension. The prescribing information also warns about additive blood-pressure lowering with alpha-blockers and other antihypertensive medicines, and increased exposure with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ritonavir, ketoconazole, itraconazole and erythromycin. Caution is advised in people with cardiovascular disease, severe renal impairment, hepatic impairment, and in those with known hypersensitivity to sildenafil or tablet components.
Possible Side Effects
Common adverse effects include headache, flushing, dyspepsia, nasal congestion, abnormal vision, back pain, myalgia, nausea, dizziness and rash. Important serious reactions can include symptomatic low blood pressure, prolonged erection, hypersensitivity reactions, and cardiovascular events in susceptible patients.
Scientific Evidence
Published reviews and meta-analyses report that sildenafil is more effective than placebo for erectile dysfunction, with improved rates of successful intercourse and overall erectile function. Safety analyses found that most adverse effects were mild to moderate, with no unexpected major safety signal in the trial populations studied.
