Serious but less common reactions include hypersensitivity reactions, swelling of the face or throat, worsening mood symptoms, respiratory depression, and increased seizure risk if treatment is stopped abruptly. As with other antiepileptic drugs, monitoring for new or worsening neuropsychiatric symptoms is important.
