Hiforce (Sildenafil) 50 mg ODS
Hiforce 50 mg ODS is a sildenafil oral strip product. Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used for erectile dysfunction. The orally disintegrating strip formulation is intended to dissolve in the mouth, but the active medicine remains sildenafil.
Active Ingredient and Medicine Class
The verified active ingredient is sildenafil, usually supplied as sildenafil citrate. It belongs to the PDE5 inhibitor class. This class works on the nitric oxide–cGMP pathway in penile tissue and is part of the established oral treatment group for erectile dysfunction.
Established Medical Uses
Sildenafil is established for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult men. How It Works
Sildenafil helps preserve cyclic GMP in smooth muscle tissue by inhibiting PDE5. During sexual stimulation, nitric oxide increases cyclic GMP, which relaxes smooth muscle in the corpus cavernosum and allows increased blood flow. By slowing cyclic GMP breakdown, sildenafil can enhance this natural erectile response. It does not directly cause sexual arousal.
Important Safety Information
Sildenafil is contraindicated with nitrates because the combination can cause a marked fall in blood pressure. It is also contraindicated with guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat. Important precautions include cardiovascular disease, a history of low blood pressure, recent stroke or heart attack, severe liver disease, and conditions that may increase the risk of prolonged erection. Clinically significant interactions may occur with alpha-blockers, some CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ritonavir and certain azole antifungals or macrolides, and other erectile dysfunction treatments. Patients with rare inherited retinal disorders or a history of non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy may require special caution.
Possible Side Effects
Common adverse effects include headache, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, dizziness, and abnormal vision such as colour tinge or blurred vision. Less common but important serious reactions include priapism, sudden loss of vision, sudden hearing loss, and symptomatic hypotension. Allergic reactions and cardiovascular events have also been reported.
